Safety and Security

The school has 24 hours security and during the school day there are four security guards. During the hours of peak student movement 7:15 – 8:15 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:15 pm at least one member of the senior leadership team (SLT) is on duty at the gate.

All parents and guardians have been issued with Ascot Identity cards which must be worn at all times when inside the school gates.

Visitors and parents who have lost of forgotten their identity cards must surrender photo ID and wear a visitor’s card.

A network of CCTV surveillance cameras are in operation for 24 hours a day inside and outside the school.

The school conducts 5 fire drills per year to practice evacuation of the school in a safe and orderly manner. All members of the school community on site at the time are required to take part in these drills. In addition an intruder alert and response drill is practiced once a year.

A nurse is on site during the school days and a replacement is in place in the case of the nurse’s absence . Any medications that are required to be taken by any child should be done so by the nurse and not a member of the academic staff. It is the responsibility of the parent to communicate this information to the nurse.

All off site visits and residential locations are subject to a visit in advance by teaching staff who will inspect the facilities and complete a risk assessment with clear actions to be taken in the event of an emergency. All off site visits require permission from parents in advance, if no permission is provided , the school is unable to allow students to join the offsite trip.

The science laboratories are all provided with emergency showers, eyewash stations, gas detectors and cut off switches for gas and electricity.

Catering services are provided by Epicure Company Limited. All staff have training in safe food handling and the facilities are subject to regular and stringent testing to ensure that food, preparation and serving areas are safe from contamination.
