ASCOT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is a growing international school in Bangkok, Thailand. Established in 1997, the school school currently has 450 students on roll from Nursery to year 13 and is an IB World School, offering the IB Diploma. The curriculum followed is the National Curriculum for England and Wales with modifications for our position in S.E Asia, in KS4 we offer Cambridge IGCSE.

We are seeking flexible, creative, passionate teachers with at least three years teaching experience, who are reflective practitioners and  capable of providing quality learning in an international school environment where students have English as a second language.

For most positions applicants must be native English speakers, and all must have a Bachelor’s degree plus a recognised  teaching qualification (PGCE etc) or more. The successful applicant will need to  be well organised, have a good sense of humour and be willing to participate  in the extra-curricular activities  of school life as well as the classroom. It is essential to be an excellent  communicator and be confident with educational technology and possess the ability to collaborate with colleagues, students and parents.

Academic Positions Available

Early Years , Primary KS1 and KS2 Teachers – August 2018 start

We are seeking teachers who are committed to an experiential and student centered approach to education. The candidate must be an effective communicator, who is enthusiastic, flexible and committed to excellence.

The school is currently  a IB PYP candidate school and will be undergoing the process to become an authorised school within the next 2 years. As such applicants with PYP experience will be at an advantage.

Teachers will be expected:

  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils that is in line with the curriculum policies of the school.
  • To facilitate, support and monitor the overall progress and development of all pupils.

Secondary School – August 2018 start

Physics KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

An enthusiastic and experienced Physics  teacher with experience across the whole of the secondary school is required for the academic year 2018/19. The ideal candidate should be willing to develop teaching experiences outside of the classroom. The school is in the process of developing a STEAM/DT facility and a candidate with experience in this field , especially with electronics skills would have an advantage. The school has 4  well equipped science laboratories and a lab technician to assist preparation of materials and stock.

There is an opportunity for the position of Head of Science for experienced candidates

The successful candidate should have a wide range of teaching experience especially in an international school or with English Second Language learners.

Experience of teaching post 16 is important with preference given to IBDP trained teachers, however , for the right candidate training for IBDP will be provided.

 

Chemistry  KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

An enthusiastic and experienced Chemistry   teacher with experience across the whole of the secondary school is required for the academic year 2018/19. The ideal candidate should be willing to develop teaching experiences outside of the classroom. The school is in the process of developing a STEAM/DT facility and a candidate with experience in this field would be at an advantage. The ability to teacher either Physics or Biology would also be useful.  The school has 4  well equipped science laboratories and a lab technician to assist preparation of materials and stock.

There is an opportunity for the position of Head of Science for experienced candidates

The successful candidate should have a wide range of teaching experience especially in an international school or with English Second Language learners.

Experience of teaching post 16 is important with preference given to IBDP trained teachers, however , for the right candidate training for IBDP will be provided.

 

Biology with Chemistry  KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

An enthusiastic and experienced Biology with Chemistry   teacher with experience across the whole of the secondary school is required for the academic year 2018/19. The ideal candidate should be willing to develop teaching experiences outside of the classroom. The school is in the process of developing a STEAM/DT facility and a candidate with experience in this field would be at an advantage. The school has 4  well equipped science laboratories and a lab technician to assist preparation of materials and stock.

There are ample opportunities for the successful candidate to develop fieldwork in SE Asia as well as pursue initiatives on the school campus in the school’s plant nursery as well as liaise with local environmental organisations. Collaboration with the Environmental Science teacher would be an important part of this role.

Head of Science  Department

The position of Head of the Science Department is available for any experienced candidates applying for the Science positions. This position will involve the day to day smooth running of a department 3 teachers, 1 lab technician and 4 science laboratories. Experience with inventory management , placing orders and coordinating whole school science events are essential. The school is particularly keen on pursuing environmental initiatives and the Head of Science would be involved in the development of these projects. The school is also planning a STEAM/DT facility and the Head of Science would play an important part in the planning and launching of this exciting project.

 

Geography with Environmental Science KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

An enthusiastic and experienced Geography and Environmental Science  teacher with experience across the whole of the secondary school is required for the academic year 2018/19. The ideal candidate should be willing to develop teaching experiences outside of the classroom. With Bangkok’s position in SE Asia , there are numerous opportunities to take part in fieldwork to enhance classroom activities.

The successful candidate should have a wide range of teaching experience especially in an international school or with English Second Language learners.

English Language and Literature KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

This position is ideal for an English teacher with interest and expertise in teaching English as a First and Second Language.

The successful candidate should have a wide range of teaching experience , especially in English as a Second Language and be committed to the integration of all students within mainstream classes.

Experience of teaching post 16 is important with preference given to IBDP trained teachers, however , for the right candidate training for IBDP will be provided.

 

Mathematics  KS3 – NC for England and Wales/IGCSE/IBDP

An enthusiastic and experienced Mathematics teacher  with experience across the whole of the secondary school is required to join as the third member of the Maths department. Making Maths enjoyable and relevant through enrichment activities and cross curricular links are actively encouraged.

The successful candidate should have a wide range of teaching experience especially in an international school or with English Second Language learners.

Experience of teaching post 16 is important with preference given to IBDP trained teachers, however , for the right candidate training for IBDP will be provided. 

 

Administrative Positions Available

Admissions & Marketing Officer

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field 
  • 30 years of age or older with at least 3 years of experience in the education industry
  • Thai National or Thai native language proficiency; must also be fluent in English; strong speaking and writing skills in both languages is essential
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills
  • Experience with developing content for websites and social media channels
  • Proactive personality and a team player
  • Willingness to learn new things; confidently work in a multi-culture business environment
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills with the ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite would be a plus but is not necessary
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese would be a plus but is not necessary

Responsibilities:

  • Provide prospective parents with school information; conduct campus tours
  • Handle telephone and email inquiries
  • Input and maintain student information in the school database
  • Guide parents and students through the full enrollment process, including trials, assessments and interviews
  • Coordinate student information between administrative and academic departments
  • Assist in organising and attending both internal and external events
  • Assist in the development of school marketing materials; ads for print publications and social media channels
  • Cover front office / receptionist duties from time to time, as needed
