The first years of school can shape how a child feels about learning for years to come.

At Ascot, we want children to begin this journey feeling safe, curious and excited to discover the world around them.

Our Early Years Open House in Bangkok gives parents and children an opportunity to experience this environment in person and understand what the beginning of an Ascot education looks like.

Where Learning Begins with Discovery

Young children learn naturally through play.

They explore. They ask questions. They experiment. They communicate. They make friends. Sometimes they make mistakes and try again.

These everyday experiences are important parts of learning.

At Ascot, our Early Years uses a play-based approach under the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Development Matters guidance together with the IB Primary Years Programme framework.

Every young child develops differently.

Children are placed at the centre of the learning experience and encouraged to explore, question, create and reflect as they begin making meaning for themselves.

This means learning can happen in many different ways.

Building and construction can introduce children to shapes, patterns and problem-solving. Stories can develop imagination, vocabulary and communication. Creative activities give children opportunities to express their ideas. Outdoor experiences support movement, confidence, cooperation and independence.

The purpose is not simply to prepare children for the next year of school. It is to help them develop a positive relationship with learning itself.

What happens after the Early Years?

Our Whole School Open House gives families the opportunity to explore the complete learning journey at Ascot, from a child’s first years at school through to graduation.

Established in 1995, Ascot International School has served families in Bangkok for more than 25 years. Our vision is centred on students developing according to their needs within a welcoming, family environment, supported by a challenging curriculum that helps them become adaptable lifelong learners.

The Whole School Open House is suitable for families exploring entry into Early Years, Primary or Secondary School, as well as families interested in Ascot’s upper Secondary pathways.

One School, One Learning Journey

As children grow, what they need from their education changes.

Ascot’s curriculum is designed to develop with them.

In Early Years, children learn through a play-based approach using EYFS Development Matters and the IB PYP framework.

In Primary, students continue with an inquiry-based approach through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) alongside the National Curriculum for England.

In Secondary, students move into an inquiry and project-based approach using the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework, followed by Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10 and 11.

For Years 12 and 13, students can continue through the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or IB Career-related Programme (CP).

This provides students with a connected educational journey from their early childhood experiences to preparation for university and life beyond school.

A School Where Everyone Belongs

A strong education needs more than a strong curriculum.

Children also need to feel that school is somewhere they belong.

Ascot’s educational approach places importance on belonging, community, wellbeing, environment and learning. The school aims to provide a space where members of the community feel safe and secure, while creating a welcoming and family-friendly environment.

We want students to be challenged to grow while also knowing that there are people around them who support their journey.

This idea sits at the heart of Ascot:

A School Where Everyone Belongs.
