Student organisation is an integral part of Ascot International School. It is an opportunity for students to practise leadership roles, as well as providing them a platform to voice their concerns and feedback. At Ascot, the student organisation is elected yearly by their peers and the senior leadership team in consultation with teachers. Each elected student performs various leadership roles and holds several responsibilities throughout the year.
At Ascot International School, we believe that every student has the capacity to lead. Leadership is not limited to formal positions or titles; it is about taking initiative, serving others, contributing positively to the community, and making a difference.
Through a wide range of leadership opportunities, students are encouraged to develop confidence, responsibility, communication skills, collaboration, empathy, and resilience. Student leadership plays an important role in developing internationally minded young people who are empowered to take action and contribute meaningfully within the school and wider community.

At Ascot, we believe that student voice matters and that students should play an active role in shaping their school experience.
Both the Primary School and Secondary School have elected Student Councils that represent the voice of students within the school community.
Student Council members work closely with teachers and school leaders to:

Represent the views of their peers.
Support school improvement initiatives.
Organise events and activities.
Promote student wellbeing and school spirit.
Lead community and service projects.
Student Council provides students with an authentic opportunity to engage in leadership, advocacy, and decision-making.
Head Students
Each year, students elect Head Students in both the Primary and Secondary Schools.
Head Students serve as role models and ambassadors for the school, supporting assemblies, events, community initiatives, student leadership projects, and representing the student body at official school functions.
These leadership positions provide students with valuable opportunities to develop public speaking, teamwork, organisational, and leadership skills while making a meaningful contribution to school life.

Recent examples of student-led initiatives include the Anti-Bullying Club, which was created and led by students who wanted to promote kindness, inclusion, and positive relationships throughout the Primary School.

Secondary students also participate in BOSA (Board of Student Affairs), a student leadership group that works collaboratively with school leaders to represent student perspectives, provide feedback, and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
Students are encouraged to identify needs within the community and develop their own leadership opportunities, projects, and clubs. One example is the student-led Student Support Services Initiative, which was established to provide support and guidance for fellow students and strengthen the sense of community within the Secondary School.
At Ascot, leadership opportunities continue to evolve based on student interests and ideas. Each year, students are surveyed and consulted regarding the types of leadership opportunities they would like to see within the school.
This ensures that leadership remains meaningful, relevant, and responsive to the needs and passions of our students.
We encourage students not only to participate in existing leadership programmes but also to create new initiatives, clubs, and opportunities that contribute positively to school life.
Leadership extends beyond the classroom and beyond the school gates. Students are encouraged to demonstrate leadership through service-learning projects, volunteering opportunities, fundraising initiatives, community partnerships, environmental action, and social responsibility programmes.
