Celebrating Harmony Day at Ascot: Learning Through Diversity and Inclusion

Every school community is made up of people with different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. At Ascot, we believe these differences make our community stronger. That is why we were delighted to celebrate Harmony Day with our students and staff.

What is Harmony Day?

Harmony Day is a special occasion that encourages people to celebrate cultural diversity, respect others, and create a sense of belonging for everyone. It reminds us that people from different cultures can live, learn, and grow together in a positive environment.
The colour orange is a symbol of Harmony Day. It represents social connection, respect, and support for one another. It also reminds us that everyone should feel welcomed, included, and valued.

How Ascot Celebrated Harmony Day

Last Friday, students and staff across the school joined together to celebrate Harmony Day. Everyone was invited to wear comfortable clothes, traditional cultural outfits, or orange clothing to show their support for inclusion and unity.

It was wonderful to see students proudly sharing their cultures and expressing their identities. Many colourful outfits reflected the rich diversity within our international school community.

Throughout the day, students participated in activities that focused on important values such as respect, understanding, and belonging. They had opportunities to learn about different traditions, talk about their own backgrounds, and appreciate the experiences of others. These meaningful activities helped students understand that every culture has something valuable to share.

For many students, Harmony Day was also a chance to discover something new about their classmates. By seeing different styles of clothing and hearing stories about family traditions, students gained a deeper understanding of the cultures represented in our school.
