Celebrating Harmony Day at Ascot | An Inclusive International School in Bangkok

Every school community is made up of people with different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. At Ascot, we believe these differences make our community stronger. That is why we were delighted to celebrate Harmony Day with our students and staff.

Harmony Day is a special occasion that encourages people to celebrate cultural diversity, respect others, and create a sense of belonging for everyone. It reminds us that people from different cultures can live, learn, and grow together in a positive environment.
The colour orange is a symbol of Harmony Day. It represents social connection, respect, and support for one another. It also reminds us that everyone should feel welcomed, included, and valued.

Last Friday, students and staff across the school joined together to celebrate Harmony Day. Everyone was invited to wear comfortable clothes, traditional cultural outfits, or orange clothing to show their support for inclusion and unity.

It was wonderful to see students proudly sharing their cultures and expressing their identities. Many colourful outfits reflected the rich diversity within our international school community.

Throughout the day, students participated in activities that focused on important values such as respect, understanding, and belonging. They had opportunities to learn about different traditions, talk about their own backgrounds, and appreciate the experiences of others. These meaningful activities helped students understand that every culture has something valuable to share.

For many students, Harmony Day was also a chance to discover something new about their classmates. By seeing different styles of clothing and hearing stories about family traditions, students gained a deeper understanding of the cultures represented in our school. Moments like these encourage curiosity and help children build meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds.

At an international school, students learn alongside classmates from many countries and cultures. Harmony Day provides an opportunity for children to communicate with people who may think, speak, or live differently from them.

Harmony Day is more than a celebration. It helps students understand that every person deserves to feel accepted, safe, and valued. By learning about different cultures, children develop empathy, confidence, and open-mindedness. These are important qualities that prepare students to become caring and responsible global citizens.

In today’s interconnected world, the ability to work and communicate with people from different backgrounds is an essential life skill. Celebrations such as Harmony Day give students practical opportunities to practise kindness, active listening, and respectful communication. These experiences support not only their social development but also prepare them for future study and careers in an increasingly global society.

At Ascot, we are proud to provide an environment where students are encouraged to be themselves and appreciate the unique qualities of others. We believe that a supportive community helps every learner grow both academically and personally.

Harmony Day reminds us that diversity is something to celebrate. By respecting and understanding each other, we create a stronger and more caring school community.

Events like Harmony Day help students build friendships, gain new perspectives, and feel connected to the people around them. They also remind us that learning goes beyond the classroom and includes understanding the world and the people in it.

As a diverse international school community, Ascot values opportunities that bring students, families, and staff together. Harmony Day reflects our commitment to creating a learning environment where every individual feels recognised and appreciated. By celebrating both our similarities and differences, we continue to build a culture of inclusion that inspires students to become compassionate and open-minded learners.

At Ascot, everyone belongs, and we are proud to celebrate the many cultures, languages, and traditions that make our school such a special place.
