At Ascot International School, we believe that young children learn best when they have opportunities to explore, move, communicate, and discover the world around them. Our whole Early Years community recently enjoyed an exciting adventure at Kidzoona, where learning came to life through play, movement, imagination, and friendship.

Throughout the day, our young learners took part in a variety of activities that supported their physical, social, emotional, and communication skills. From climbing and balancing to imaginative role play, every experience gave students a chance to build confidence, try something new, and enjoy learning together.

Developing Gross Motor Skills Through Movement and Exploration

Physical development is an important part of learning in the Early Years. At Kidzoona, students had many opportunities to climb, balance, jump, and move through different obstacles and activity areas.

These experiences helped learners develop their gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and body awareness. As they explored each activity, students also learned to take safe risks, solve simple challenges, and become more confident in their own abilities.

It was wonderful to see their determination grow throughout the day. Some learners carefully tried new activities for the first time, while others challenged themselves to move with greater confidence and independence.

Building Confidence Through New Experiences

For young children, every new experience is an opportunity to learn and grow. A visit beyond the classroom gives students the chance to explore a different environment while feeling supported by their teachers and friends.

Throughout the trip, our Early Years learners showed curiosity and courage as they explored new spaces and activities. They learned to make choices, try different challenges, and continue even when an activity required patience or extra effort.

These small moments help children develop confidence, independence, and resilience, which are important foundations for lifelong learning.

Strengthening Language and Communication Skills

Play provides many valuable opportunities for children to develop their language and communication skills. During the role play activities, students talked with their friends, asked questions, shared ideas, and listened to one another.

Whether they were pretending to serve food in a restaurant, care for a patient, or help a customer in a shop, learners practised using language in meaningful situations.

These interactions help children become more confident communicators and teach them how to express their ideas clearly, listen to others, and take part in conversations.

Learning Through Friendship and Collaboration at Kidzoona

The Kidzoona adventure was also a wonderful opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and learn how to work together.

Throughout the day, children shared spaces, waited for their turns, played together, and helped one another. These simple experiences support important social skills such as cooperation, patience, respect, and empathy.

Learning alongside friends also makes new experiences more meaningful and enjoyable. Through laughter, conversation, and shared discoveries, our learners created special memories together as part of the Ascot Early Years community.

Supporting the IB Learner Profile Through Meaningful Experiences

At Ascot International School, learning extends beyond the classroom. Experiences such as this adventure help students develop qualities connected to the IB Learner Profile and support their growth as caring, communicative, curious, and balanced learners.

Through physical activities, students developed confidence and balance. Through role play, they strengthened communication and creativity. Through playing with friends, they learned about cooperation, kindness, and respect for others.

By connecting learning with real experiences, we help young children understand that learning can happen everywhere.

Creating Joyful Memories in the Early Years

Most importantly, the day was filled with joy, laughter, friendship, curiosity, and unforgettable memories. Our learners had the freedom to explore, imagine, move, and learn in ways that were both meaningful and fun.

At Ascot, we believe that positive Early Years experiences help build strong foundations for future learning. When children feel happy, confident, supported, and curious, they are more willing to explore new ideas and take an active role in their own learning journey.

Our Early Years adventure at Kidzoona was a wonderful day of inquiry, movement, creativity, communication, and fun. It was a beautiful example of how learning through play can help young children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
