The Queen of IB: Where Creativity, Confidence, and Community Come Together

The Queen of IB Where Creativity, Confidence, and Community Come Together (1)

Some of the most meaningful learning experiences happen when students are given the confidence to express themselves. At Ascot International School, we believe education is about much more than academic achievement. It is about helping every child discover their strengths, develop their character, and grow into confident, caring, and creative individuals.

Our recent production of The Queen of IB was a wonderful example of this belief in action.

From Year 1 to Year 6, Primary students came together to create an exciting musical filled with music, dance, storytelling, colourful performances, and plenty of smiles. Every student played an important role, whether performing on stage, supporting their classmates, or working together during rehearsals.

The performance was a celebration not only of talent but also of the values that make our Ascot community so special.

More Than a School Performance

Preparing for a musical is about much more than learning songs or remembering lines.

Long before students stepped onto the stage, they spent weeks practising together, learning how to listen, encourage one another, and work towards a shared goal. Every rehearsal gave them opportunities to improve, solve problems, and become more confident.

Students discovered that success is achieved through commitment, patience, and teamwork.

As they prepared for the final performance, they learned to manage challenges, support friends, and celebrate each other’s progress. These experiences help children develop important life skills that will benefit them both in school and beyond.

Building Confidence Through Performance

Standing in front of a large audience can feel exciting and challenging at the same time.

For many students, The Queen of IB became an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Whether they had a leading role, performed in a group, danced with classmates, or helped tell the story through music, every child contributed to the success of the production.

Each performance helped students build confidence by encouraging them to:

  • Speak clearly and express themselves
  • Perform with confidence in front of an audience
  • Develop resilience through practice and improvement
  • Trust themselves and their classmates
  • Celebrate personal growth as well as group success

These moments remind students that confidence grows through experience, encouragement, and a willingness to try something new.

Creativity Brings Learning to Life

Creativity plays an important role in learning at Ascot.

The Queen of IB allowed students to communicate ideas through music, movement, storytelling, and performance. Instead of simply learning from textbooks, students explored different ways to express themselves while using their imagination.

Throughout the production, they developed many transferable skills, including:

  • Creative thinking
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Problem-solving
  • Self-expression

These skills support learning across every subject and prepare students for future opportunities in an ever-changing world.

When children are encouraged to think creatively, they become more curious, adaptable, and willing to explore new ideas.

A Community Working Together

The Queen of IB was not only a celebration for our students but also for our entire school community.

Teachers carefully guided students through weeks of preparation, helping them build confidence while creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience.

Our staff worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise every detail of the production, while parents and families encouraged students throughout the journey and celebrated their achievements on performance day.

When schools and families work together, students feel supported, valued, and inspired to achieve their very best.

This strong partnership is one of the reasons our community continues to thrive.

Celebrating Every Child’s Success

One of the most memorable parts of the musical was seeing every student shine in their own unique way.

Some students confidently took centre stage for the first time. Others discovered new talents in singing, acting, or dancing. Many simply enjoyed the experience of working closely with friends and contributing to something bigger than themselves.

The smiles, laughter, applause, and sense of achievement captured in these moments remind us that success can be measured in many different ways. At Ascot, we celebrate not only outstanding performances but also courage, perseverance, kindness, creativity, and personal growth. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover what they can achieve.
